WHAT IS BUSINESS COACHING?
Business coaching is the process of engaging in consistent, disciplined conversations with a “client” (individual/group) who is within a business. The goal is to enhance the client’s self-awareness/behavior to attain business goals developed by the client. This enables the client to understand the role in achieving business goals and to strengthen the character in ways that are measurable and sustainable.
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BUSINESS COACH?
Listen and guide the client to develop actionable goals and a method to achieve them.
Maintain a clear focus on the business objectives of the client.
Encourage client’s greater focus and self-awareness to produce results quickly.
Contribute as a sounding board, reality check, and provide accountability to the client.
Provide tools, support, and structure needed for the client to make desired changes.
DO I NEED TO BE IN LOS ANGELES TO WORK WITH YOU? HOW LONG SHOULD I PLAN ON WORKING WITH A BUSINESS COACH?
No - Frequent business coaching sessions are conducted over the phone. The sessions last for one hour, 2-4 times per month (depending on need), with assignments and email support in-between. The best results come from a minimum three-month commitment. This actually saves time and money to the client and allows the coach to work worldwide.
Customized, in person workshops are available for small groups of people anywhere in the United States. Click here to learn more about Workshops for Technical Professionals.
CAN I AFFORD TO HIRE A BUSINESS COACH?
If help is needed for the business, you can’t afford not to hire a business coach. The price is based on the size of the business, scope of the goals, and how quickly goals are to be accomplished. The key to success is to find the “right” match. Decide the best method utilizing either an online program or how much personalized service you require. The client needs to feel comfortable and be able to trust the business coach. Remember – this is an investment in you!
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM CLIENTS?
The coaching process is only successful if there is honesty and trust established between the client and the coach. The client needs to be open-minded and receptive to change. The client’s responsibility is to be motivated and disciplined to complete the work needed to make the change and advance to the next level of success and beyond.
HOW DOES ONE-ON-ONE BUSINESS COACHING WORK?
Step 1
Prior to signing an agreement, the client is interviewed to get a complete understanding of the issues/problems/concerns and then a scope of work is developed based on the findings. It needs to be clear that the coach can benefit the client.
Step 2
Three-month example:
The client selects what services to focus on, then a customized plan is developed.
Start working with the client on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.
Develop a Business Development Action Plan. The client develops the plan with guidance, input, and review of the coach.
The process includes a combination of email/phone calls in between sessions and homework assignments.
